From 2nd to 10th July 2015, Drugo more will host four artists engaged in CORNERS platform – Gianfranco Mirizzi (Rijeka), Miha Horvat (Maribor), Riccardo Spagnulo (Bari) and Simon Farid (London) – who work together on production of “Games” project, exploring the kinds of games one plays, often alone, in urban spaces. They are looking to develop these game conventions into tactics to activate different public spaces and users of those spaces, through an engagement with site and the different rules at play in different sites.
During their stay in Rijeka, mentioned artists in residence will try to focus on local gaming cultures and communities, while experimenting with different gaming forms as cultural connection. Their meetings will be open to the public, so those who are interested to see them during their work process can visit them every day from 10am to 1pm and from 2pm to 6pm at Filodrammatica building.
At the same place, on Friday, July 10th at 6pm, they will have an open and informal presentation of their progress, which will also be an opportunity to to test out some new ideas.
Co-producers: ISIS Arts (Newcastle upon Tyne), Teatro Pubblico Pugliese (Bari), Exodos (Ljubljana) and Drugo more (Rijeka).
CORNERS is a platform for artists and audiences, designed and driven by cultural organizations at the edges of Europe. We create opportunities for artists and researchers to produce multidisciplinary contemporary artistic and cultural collaborative projects. The objective is to enable exchange across geographical, political and economic divisions. More than 50 artists and researchers (and the number grows) have met through CORNERS, as well as more than 30 organizations and institutions as partners and collaborators.
