On Friday, we continue with the “Explore the City” exhibition presentation with focus on Arduino art.
Playful Hardware workshop will introduce the participants to Arduino, an open source microcomputer (tiny controller) as a tool that creates and generates artwork, and subsequently to Max/MSP, a visual programming language that helps you build complex, interactive programs without any prior experience in writing code, especially for audio, video and graphics applications.
The workshop schedule is as follows:
10.00 – 10.15 Meeting and opening, introduction to exhibited works
10.15 – 10.45 Lecture: Experience the exhibition space
10.45 – 11.00 Coffee break
11.00 – 12.00 Arduino & MAX as tools for creating and self-generating artworks

Workshop facilitator: Gianfranco Mirizzi
Gianfranco Mirizzi is an Italian visual artist living and working in Rijeka. He holds an M.A. in Architecture from IUAV university in Venice, Italy. After working as an architect in Italy, Croatia and Montenegro he graduated in the Imaging and Digital Arts MFA program at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (USA). He has been a researcher at the UMBC’s Imaging Research Center, where he has been investigating new technologies and media, other than conducting a number of researches focused on urban and social themes. His works have been shown in Baltimore, Towson, Salisbury (Maryland, USA) and now in Rijeka.
The language of the workshop is mixed English/Croatian.
