Abandoned premises – an aesthetic exchange between Berlin and Rijeka

Rijeka is the third largest city in Croatia, situated at the northern top of the Adriatic. More a transport hub than primary tourist destination, it hosts the countries biggest industrial port. The vivid history has inscribed itself into the architecture of the town but the dramatic changes have left numerous modern ruins built in the past century that are now surrendered to decay and oblivion.

We invite young photographers from Berlin and Rijeka to explore these buildings together and capture their very own aesthetics and particular histories.

The resulting exhibition will be shown in Rijeka, Zagreb and Berlin.

requirements:
– you are a professional or semi professional photographer living in Berlin or Rijeka with at least 3 years of experience
– you have experience with natural lighting conditions and already participated in exhibitions
– you own (and can bring) your own equipment
– you speak English on a communicative level

We offer:
– Organisation of the expedition in Rijeka
– Programme with city tour, expert talks and background information on the city and buildings
– Assistance in obtaining funds for your travel expenses (from Berlin to Rijeka and from Rijeka to Berlin)
– Fee of 100€
– Exhibition of your photos in Rijeka (June 2013), Zagreb (July 2013) and Berlin (August/September 2013)

The expedition should take place from 01.-05.05.2013.
