Ivo Vičić: A Track in Time
2015 February 12-28
Filodrammatica, Korzo 28 Rijeka Croatia
Drugo more is pleased to present A Track in Time, an exhibition by Ivo Vičić, sound artist and field recordist. You are welcome to join us on Thursday, February 12 at 8 pm for the exhibition opening and to meet the artist.
A Track in Time (“Trag u vremenu”) is an exhibition of sound art recorded both at abandoned industrial places and surrounding nature spaces in Rijeka, Croatia. Recordings move back and forth in time, tapping into a bygone era of massive industrial production. Nature soundings are also caught amidst the soundings of abandoned industry, and are almost dominating today. This invites images of ephemerality, fragility and insufficiency of industry that is disappearing and slowly integrating with the landscape.
Recorded audio on magnetic tapes is played randomly and transformed by our interaction: cranes, engines, machinery, ship horns all bring out our knowledge of times past. And our past is slowly being removed from us. Rusty industrial objects sound like they have always belonged on a magnetic tape that oxidizes.
Ivo Vičić is an artist working with sound whether as a recording artist, sound designer, musical producer or a field sound engineer. He is experienced in scientific sound-related projects, in radio, documentaries, and has done some experimental work that fuses field sound with music. His latest work includes recordings of wild animals such as wolves and foxes and until today he remains the only professional sound recordist in Croatia that is a contributor to the Nature Sound Map.
The exhibition remains open until the end of February, working hours 10 am-1pm and 4 pm – 8pm Monday to Friday and 10 am- 1pm on Saturdays.
