THE OTHER BRIONI
September 28, beginning 14:00
Utopian thinking is a practical matter — a tool to change the present, to see the future here and now
Welcome to THE OTHER BRIONI, a one-day festival on Tito´s former summer island/archipelago located in the Istrian Sea, in Croatia. THE OTHER BRIONI is a perfect late summer excursion and a unique opportunity to interact with the participants of the Summit of Practical Utopias.
On Saturday, September 28, we invite you to an alternative tour of Brioni. Existing sites and sights will be re-interpreted by the participants of the Summit of Practical Utopias. Among others, an audible intervention at the Tito Museum, a reanimated zoo, and a summit of parrots will make this tour different from the usual fare for tourists. For children a special 2.5 hour game has been designed, so that parents will be free to roam the island. After the tour, we’ll invite you to a picnic where performers, visitors, organizers and summit attendees can continue their conversations started during the tour.
The evening program will begin at the open air cinema – once frequented by celebrities, now slightly defunct – where Paul Poet will present his movie “Empire Me” – a personal journey through European Utopian communities. Finally, it’ll be time for Tito Disco, with music that would have made the old General shake his booty. Join us!
THE OTHER BRIONI is the Open Day of the Summit of Practical Utopias collaboratively organized by YKON, DRUGO MORE and ELECTRA within the framework of the MINE YOURS OURS FESTIVAL.
