Contemporary technological imaginaries are largely organized around expansion: more computation, automation, energy, extraction, and growth. What happens if we instead imagine technological futures starting from material limits, ecological dependencies, and finite planetary flows? Through works such as The Solar Share, Eating the Sun, Shadow Growth, and Life Support System, DISNOVATION.ORG challenges dominant technological and economic narratives by confronting them with the material conditions and power relations that sustain them.

We take material limits as a starting point for expanding creative and political possibilities, and for rethinking how we collectively organize our needs, resources, and technologies in pursuit of futures that are not only desirable, but also viable.

DISNOVATION.ORG is a research collective working across contemporary art, science, and critical technology. Through installations, performances, publications, and speculative prototypes, they make complex eco-social dynamics tangible and open to investigation. Their work explores energy, ecology, economics, and technological imaginaries, questioning the role technologies play in shaping our societies and opening up futures beyond dominant narratives of growth, extraction, and innovation.

They co-edited A Bestiary of the Anthropocene with Nicolas Nova and The Pirate Book, an anthology on media piracy. Their work has been presented internationally at art institutions and festivals, including the Centre Pompidou, Palais de Tokyo, Jeu de Paume, ZKM, Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Ars Electronica, Kochi-Muziris Biennale, and The Photographers’ Gallery. DISNOVATION.ORG has held solo exhibitions at Kunsthaus Langenthal, iMAL, Impakt, and Aksioma. Their artistic research has received commissions, grants, residencies, and fellowships from mudac, the Max Ernst Museum, S+T+ARTS, and V2_.
